It was a warm day in Indonesia, like most of them are. Sitting on a bamboo bench, I pulled my American passport out of my front pocket to stop it from sticking to my leg. Glancing at the eyes of my local benchmate, I realized that they were locked not on me, the strange foreigner, but on this small blue booklet in my hands.
In my early days of travel, I didn’t realize the power this tiny book granted me. I have since learned how coveted it is and how much it speaks to geopolitical power. Here’s an infographic ranking the passports of the world.
Click and zoom in to see what passport is the strongest (hint, it’s not the US), and what passport is the most difficult to travel with.
