DAY 1: Mt Nebo, a Dead Sea village, and Feynan Ecolodge
Depart Amman and make your way to Mt. Nebo, where Moses looked out over the Holy Land. Then descend over 1,300 feet below sea level to the village of Ghor al Mazra’a, where you will learn how to make Arabic “shrak” bread, organic eyeliner, and “tomato in a pan” a traditional dish using all local ingredients. A portion of your trip cost goes directly to this community. After lunch, make your way to Feynan Ecolodge. You’ll spend the afternoon relaxing before taking a sunset hike with a local guide. When you return, the lodge will be lit by candles. After a gourmet vegetarian meal, lay on the rooftop terrace sipping tea and counting stars. (ON Feynan Ecolodge)
DAY 2: A Shepherd, Little Petra, and a Bedouin Camp
After breakfast, join in herding goats and sharing stories with a local shepherd. After lunch, make your way to the Ammarin Bedouin camp, near Petra. The afternoon will be yours to explore the beautiful surroundings or Siq Al Barid (“Little Petra”), only a 10 minute walk from your camp. Tonight, you will join a local family for a traditional home cooked meal. (ON Ammarin Camp)
DAY 3: Discover Petra by Camel
After breakfast, you will mount your camels and head into the desert, on the seldom traveled back route to Petra. After an hour ride, dismount and begin hiking with a local Bedouin escort. You’ll enter Petra away from all other tourists, and feel like you discovered it for yourself. Spend the day exploring this world wonder. At the end of the day, your private driver will take you back to Amman.
